AGM & Birthday Bash Recap

Dear Friends of CityHive, 

While the heat of summer may have taken its time getting here, our CityHive team kicked off summer with gusto. On July 6th we hosted our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and our first in-person alumni and community celebration since the “before times”. 

At our AGM we had the opportunity to share some of our biggest successes from the past year and we officially welcomed four new members to our Board: Mina Haghighi, Molly Henry, Trisha Dulku, and Ian Moore. We are very excited to have them guiding our organization forward alongside ongoing board members Jenna McNeil, Jessica Wong, and James Infante. You can read all their bios here. 

In welcoming these new members, we also said a very bittersweet goodbye to three outgoing board members: Precious Ile, Naitik Mehta, and Petros Kusmu. We as an organization – and I personally – can’t thank them enough for providing critical guidance and support to our organization over the past two years. We know that they will continue to be allies of our work and organization as Advisors and wish them all the best as they continue to make profound impacts on our community and cities. Thank you, Precious, Naitik and Petros!

With our new board elected, and the business out of the way, we switched into party mode with a memorable Birthday Bash at Creekside Community Centre. This celebration recognized our five(ish) years of incredible impact and innovation in youth engagement. We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us – you are the community that keeps us excited to run programs that engage youth. A special shout out to Michaela and the whole staff team for making it a huge success. We’ve included some photos below featuring highlights from the event.

We have so many other exciting announcements coming soon – from the What Youth Want report, to the Youth Climate Innovation Lab launch, to elections-related programs and events, to finally piloting K-12 programming in schools – the CityHive is buzzing.
