Climate Action Jam

Climate Action Jam (formerly the Youth Civics & Climate Leadership Program) is a program for youth (ages 13-30) to learn how Metro Vancouver municipalities operate and make policy decisions in order to understand ways to take local climate action. This program series is hosted with community partners – all workshops are for youth in your networks.

After the first iteration of Climate Action Jam was hosted from Fall 2022 to Spring 2023, the CityHive team conducted a literature review and interviewed local community organizations to further understand the needs of our communities all across Metro Vancouver. This new iteration of Climate Action Jam offers different workshop structures to be adaptable to participants’ current knowledge of civics and climate action.

The four workshops follow the Knowledge-to-Action Framework:

The Knowledge-to-Action Framework is rooted in community-based learning, relationship building, and partner-supported action planning. This framework builds a learning arc that enables youth to come to the program with any level of understanding or knowledge about civics and climate change to then develop bold actions to address local challenges.

Of course! This program is for any youth ages 13-30 residing in Metro Vancouver. We try to create contents that are relevant to youth of any background, however the elementary level contents are suited for those who are new to the civics and climate spaces, as well as those who are learning English as an additional language. If you have any concerns or questions about the level of contents, please feel free to get in touch with the program coordinator.

Can I book only 1 workshop?

Can I book only 1 workshop?
We typically offer 2, 3, or 4 workshops in the Youth Civics & Climate Leadership Program. If the youth participants in your community may prefer lower commitment, we recommend you book a two workshop series. If they are a very engaged group of youth who are passionate about taking action, three or four workshops is the way to go!
