Anjali Carter-Rau
ClimateWorks Lab Coordinator
Anjali (she/her) grew up in a political, multiracial household on the stolen lands of the Maara’yam (Serrano) people in Southern California. Her teachings from a young age included conversations about colonization and the need to build a just world, ultimately laying the foundation for the work she has been doing on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations for the past 6 years. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from UBC, with a focus on International Economy and Development.
Anjali has been involved with the labor movement in multiple roles, including organizing, bargaining, and stewarding. She has worked with the Youth Climate Corps as an organizer and Youth Committee member, and is passionate about green jobs, a Just Transition, and youth voices being uplifted at all levels of government and leadership. Having seen the way in which social determinants of health impact marginalized communities, fostering care and community are integral to Anjali’s holistic vision for change. When not working, Anjali loves to be outdoors (swimming, biking, running), watching/playing soccer, or reading!
