Vicky Kim
BIPOC Mentorship Program Coordinator
Vicky is a first generation Korean immigrant-settler, living on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, Human Geography, and Sustainable Food Systems from UBC, and is deeply passionate about fostering community and accessible knowledge-to-action pathways through a justice- and care-centred lens, especially for equity-seeking groups in our cities.
Combined with her academic background, Vicky’s lived experiences and diverse work experiences in academia, industry, and non-profit sectors have led her to advocate for underrepresented youth voices in numerous capacities. She has mobilized youth social action through co-founding ReImagine17, researched just emergency preparedness for post-secondary students, and worked at the intersections of science and engagement by creating accessible workshops on climate and environment for students of all backgrounds.
When resting, Vicky loves to go for walks with a camera in hand, enjoy a warm cup of coffee, and play and watch basketball.
